Assistant Operations Officer (Captain): 8/98 – 2/99
- Principle assistant to the Battalion Operations Officer in directing the plans, operations, and training of a Mechanized Infantry Battalion consisting of over 730 soldiers and 210 tactical and combat vehicles. As the primary assistant, responsible for managing the collective training for the battalion to include scheduling, providing resources, and evaluation of all training events as well as preparation of near, short, and long-term training plans with a budget of $2.3 million.
- Cut 2 days off deployment preparation schedule while serving as Battalion Deployment Officer, readying over 1100 soldiers and 17 pallets of equipment for deployment to Kuwait
Planned, coordinated, and executed platoon training for 12 tank and infantry platoons over 40 square miles of Kuwaiti desert, superiors stated the planning was integral to the unit’s success in Kuwait
Battalion Maintenance Officer (First Lieutenant): 10/97 – 8/98
- Responsible for the maintenance and servicing of over 210 tracked and wheeled vehicles in a Mechanized Infantry Battalion. Supervise 1 officer, 31 non-commissioned officers, and 75 enlisted soldiers. Responsible for an annual repair parts budget in excess of $1.2 million.
- Achieved highest operational readiness rate in the Army during vehicle turn-in at the National Training Center
- Battalion received Division Unit Maintenance Award over 18 other Battalions
Executive Officer (First Lieutenant): 7/96 – 10/97
- Second in command of a M1A1 Tank Company. Responsible for the maintenance and logistical support for 14 M1A1 Main Battle Tanks, three Personnel Carriers, four Tactical Wheeled Vehicles, and related equipment worth in excess of $31 million. Assisted the commander in the training, welfare, and discipline of 75 soldiers.
- Recognized by the Battalion Commander as the best of five executive officers
Maintained over 94% operational readiness rate for 15 months, 4% higher than the Army standard
Platoon Leader (Second Lieutenant): 1/95 – 07/96
- Responsible for the training, welfare, and discipline of a M1A1 Tank Platoon. Trained and led 18 soldiers. Operated, maintained, and accounted for 5 M1A1 tanks and related equipment worth in excess of $12 million.
- Cited by the Battalion Commander as one of the best of 25 officers in the Battalion.
Trained and led platoon through 15-day live-fire exercise, receiving highest score of 12 tank platoons in the battalion.
